Global Network week - Technion, Haifa, Israel
This is the first time that students from Renmin University have had the chance to visit Technion, Haifa, Israel. Technion arranged a perfect schedule for all of the visiting students. The visiting group is made up of students from seven universities including IE, Fudan and Technion etc.
At the beginning of the first day, Prof. Miriam Erez from Technion University conducted the opening lecture, followed by another lecture on “Israel innovative culture: a cross-cultural comparison”. After that, Mr. Rami Gazit introduced the topic of “Lean start-up”. The innovative culture of the start-up environment in Israel, and the amount of emphasis they placed on R&D pleasantly surprised me. So many devices that were used in hospitals all over the world were invented by Isreal. There were even cases of international mergers to allow Israel companies to extent its global reach.
After that, we visited the campus of Technion Haifa. The students from Technion began the tour by giving us a short introduction about their university. At the evening of the first day, all students of the GNW enjoyed a dinner together in which we were able to communicate and network amongst ourselves.
Next on schedule, Technion arranged some lectures and company visits. Due to our diverse backgrounds and cultures, we were able to share different views and opinions amongst other students. During the visit to the startups, the companies shared their innovations and experiences with us. They were very confident with their products, and they also had a sound plan for plan and execution to ensure their success. I definitely felt that we can learn more from each other.
After all the classes ended, all of us received a “Certificate of Accomplishment” from the school and we then had a celebration dinner where we took many photos together.
During the last day, we traveled to the Old City in Jerusalem. As we are walked through the narrow streets and alleys, we also visited the historic sights such as the West Wall in the Old City. We witnessed prayers by locals every day, and the whole religious experience made everyone feel the spirituality of the city.
I think this was a very good chance to learn about Israel. During this trip, we were able to absorb innovative ideas and business theories from another part of the world. Furthermore, we were touched by their warmth and spirituality.
